Urban Mysteries Co is an immersive entertainment venue hosting mystery/escape rooms, a mystery bar and a unique puzzle and game retail offering in the heart of Adelaide. Like most small businesses across Australia and around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on their ability to trade. When the South Australian Government announced two further rounds of Great State Vouchers for 2022, Urban Mysteries Co was one of more than 500 local businesses keen to take part.
Even though business partners David Walker, Adam Winston, and Drew McGiffert were aware of the success of previous rounds of the Great State Vouchers, they weren’t sure how beneficial it would be to their business.
“I wasn’t too sure the program would be that beneficial for us but the bookings have absolutely blown us away, we’ve had over 400 sessions booked during the next two months that are certainly going to keep us busy and help the business grow after the slow COVID-19 CBD recovery”. Drew McGiffert, Managing Partner, Urban Mysteries Co.
The Great State Voucher program has been applauded for its contribution to the South Australia visitor economy which has now exceeded $150 million. Powered by Nabooki’s intuitive marketplace platform, the programs have been a lifeline for many businesses during extremely difficult times.
The marketplace not only offers consumers a high quality user experience to search and book accommodation and experiences across South Australia, businesses such as Urban Mysteries Co have received invaluable marketing exposure while helping locals to discover and experience a mysterious day out with friends and family.
Nabooki’s technology is supported by a Queensland-based support team, who work with the operators and consumers to ensure they get maximum value from their participation.
“The Nabooki team have been incredibly accommodating and fantastic to deal with, they have been super quick to respond to every question and query. Early on they identified the way we were handling our bookings was going to be inefficient and helped set us up in a better way”. Drew McGiffert, Managing Partner, Urban Mysteries Co.
2022 is set to be a big year for Urban Mysteries Co, with a new room opening in June; Lucidity, which will take players on a thrilling psychological journey as they try to solve a mystery. Other exciting initiatives include a new tailored corporate mystery program, which will be specifically designed for corporate team building. Players will need to communicate across rooms, solving puzzles and eventually locating their colleagues to all work together on achieving a final common goal.
