In late 2021, the Tasmanian visitor economy faced a critical gap. Ongoing border restrictions cut off the state from its core domestic markets in New South Wales and Victoria. The local tourism industry required an immediate economic boost.

Tourism Tasmania developed a highly strategic response. They launched the Tassie Holiday Voucher (THV) campaign. The goal was to aggressively increase interstate visitation from Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia. However, the government faced a massive logistical hurdle, and speed to market was absolutely crucial. The entire initiative needed to launch within a strict four-week window. This timeline required agile, battle-tested government stimulus infrastructure.

Deploying a Rapid, Branded Marketplace

Tourism Tasmania engaged Nabooki to meet this critical deadline. They selected us as their primary tourism marketplace provider.

Our project team worked collaboratively with the Tasmanian government to build a fully branded booking platform. We designed the system to integrate flawlessly with the prominent Discover Tasmania website. We also established a dedicated support network to handle the complex consumer ballot process.

This partnership enabled the rapid onboarding of local businesses. We successfully uploaded hundreds of unique operator listings to the portal within mere days. The resulting framework functioned as a highly efficient direct booking engine for attractions and accommodation providers.

Delivering $30 Million in Direct Economic Impact

The Tassie Holiday Voucher rollout launched on time and delivered historic results. It generated over 12,000 direct bookings for tourism operators across the state.

The financial impact was profound. The campaign successfully injected approximately $30 million into the Tasmanian economy during the final months of 2021. The Nabooki platform handled the high-volume traffic securely and reliably. It quickly established a new benchmark for scalable regional travel stimulus platforms.

Beyond Recovery: The Off-Season Winter Campaign

This initial success forged a strong, ongoing partnership between Nabooki and Tourism Tasmania. Moving beyond crisis recovery, the government soon engaged us for a strategic growth initiative. They required a dedicated digital ecosystem for their 2022 Off Season winter campaign.

We developed a custom white-label tour operator software environment specifically for winter-inspired tourism offers. This new digital space integrated seamlessly with Tourism Tasmania’s Off Season microsite. It featured an inbuilt payment portal to guarantee a frictionless consumer experience.

Crucially, the system delivered enterprise-grade marketplace reliability. It leveraged Nabooki’s decade of experience in building secure, high-volume booking infrastructure. The platform easily met strict government procurement and data security standards. Ultimately, Nabooki delivered direct bookings while significantly amplifying general awareness of Tasmania's unique winter offerings.
